Accessibility Statement
Last updated: May 2, 2026
MONEYlume is committed to making its financial guides and tools accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that clear, well-structured financial information should be available to all Americans regardless of how they access the web.
Our Accessibility Goal
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
What We Do to Support Accessibility
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3), landmark elements (
<main>,<nav>,<footer>), and lists for structured content. - Color contrast: Our text-to-background contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
- Alt text: Images that convey meaning include descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images use empty alt attributes (
alt=""). - No auto-playing media: We do not use videos, sounds, or animations that start automatically without user action.
- Readable fonts: We use high-contrast, legible fonts with a base size of 16px and sufficient line spacing.
- Descriptive links: Link text describes the destination or action rather than generic phrases like "click here."
- ARIA labels: Where standard HTML semantics are insufficient, we use ARIA attributes to provide context for assistive technologies.
- Responsive design: All pages reflow correctly at 320px width and up to 400% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
Known Limitations
While we work continuously to improve accessibility, some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards:
- Third-party content: Ads served by Google AdSense and embedded tools from third parties may not meet our accessibility standards. We have no direct control over this content.
- Legacy articles: Some older articles may have images without alt text or tables without proper headers. We are working to audit and correct these.
- Complex data tables: Some comparison tables (e.g., loan rate comparisons) may not be fully navigable by screen readers. We are improving markup for these.

- Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android)
